Wordcast

Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-09-01

These terms cover your use of wordcast.app. Wordcast is a small, self-funded project with no account system, so they are short and say what they mean.

What Wordcast is

Wordcast is a web page that reads text aloud using the speech engine already built into your browser and operating system. It is not a hosted AI voice service. It has no accounts, no subscriptions, and no paid tier today. We may change what the site offers, and we may take it offline, without notice.

Acceptable use

Use Wordcast for text you have the right to read, listen to, or share. Do not use it to process material you do not have the rights to, to attack or overload the site or the article extraction service, or to build an automated pipeline on top of it. We may block access that damages the service for other people.

Your text stays yours

We claim no rights over the text you paste, the files you open, or the articles you fetch. Pasted text and local files are parsed in your browser. A URL you submit is sent to the article extraction service so it can return readable text; the extracted text is not stored. See Privacy for the detail on each input path.

Things Wordcast depends on

Voice availability, voice quality, playback limits, and offline behavior are decided by your browser, your operating system, and the voice you select, not by Wordcast. Article extraction depends on a third-party service and on the source site allowing access. Google AdSense may serve ads in future. We do not control any of these and cannot guarantee their behavior.

No warranty

Wordcast is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. We do not promise that it will be available, that a given voice will exist on your device, that a document will parse, or that playback will finish. Do not rely on it where failure would matter.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of Wordcast, including lost time, lost data, or anything that follows from the site being unavailable or behaving differently than you expected.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date above changes when we do. Continuing to use Wordcast after that means you accept the current version.
