The short version
Your text never leaves your browser. We use Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless and does not collect personal data.
What we collect
Plausible Analytics records anonymous page views, browser type, country, and which buttons you press (start, pause, change speed). No cookies. No fingerprints. No personal data. See plausible.io/privacy for their full policy.
What about my text?
It stays in your browser tab. Synthesis happens locally via the Web Speech API. We have no server that could even receive your text. Files you upload (PDF, DOCX, etc.) are parsed entirely in your browser — they never leave your device. URL fetching sends only the URL itself to our extraction worker, which returns the article text without storing anything.
Settings storage
Your voice, speed, and display preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device. Clear your site data to reset.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to display ads on Wordcast. Google and its third-party vendors use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Wordcast and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting google.com/settings/ads, and you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. Visitors from the EU, UK, and Switzerland will see a consent message managed by Google's Funding Choices, where you can grant or deny consent for personalized ads. Google's advertising privacy policy is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
